Erie, Penn
Tuesday, July 2, 1940.
Met Bill Hamilton and Wolf at the Lawrence this morning and got them established on the locomotive in yard switching on the East Erie - then went to the office and handled the mail alone - then went down to Henry's where I met his two friends and found them very pleasant. I was glad of this opportunity to meet them, both of whom I had heard him speak of many times. Was back at the office after lunch and spent the rest of the day with Bill and Ken. Looks like we can ship the loco tomorrow and thus attain another of my objectives. I have had six objectives lately which I want to see successfully attained before I'm ready to more or less fold out of my regular work and concentrate on the government program and my new duties.

1.) Dispose of Tarzan, Jr.
2.) Get a big order for 75 mm pack howitzers.
3.) Complete the New York Central to Bill's satisfaction and ship it.
4.) Get the B & M order for 44 tonners.
5.) Get the New Haven order for a 44 tonner.
6.) Get the 5"/38 mount contract on the expanded defense program.

The first three are attained or the equivalent of it. The last three have now got to be disposed of successfully.

This evening I took Ken & Bill to the house for a few minutes to see the family, then a circuit of the Peninsula seeing the sunset and the Channel piers, Bill to the station, Ken and I to Bldg 60 for a final check on changes, a beer and a sandwich and home to bed.
