Erie, Pa,
Saturday, July 6, 1940.

Have been bothered with another sore throat for several days and have just about come to the point where I'm ready to go down and make a date with Dr. Delaney to have him carve my tonsils out. I'm getting sick of these sore throats and colds - things I never had in the summer and seldom in the winter and I'm convinced now the tonsils are plain rotten. So I may do it this month before vacation, if I can see may way clear to take the time - maybe next Saturday. I dont look forward to it with any pleasure but it will be a relief to get rid of them.

Routine Saturday odds and ends all day - shopping, hair cut, gardening, etc. Willie has a strain in her right hand that has her partially incapacitated so I am also washing dishes and doing all the car driving. We went to the Penninsala for a picnic with the Reeds this evening and Bab and Rog had their first swims of the year. They say Maybelle has rented her home furnished for the summer now and doesn't know where to go! Walter is said to be madder than ever because she shipped all his things to the hotel - he had been hoping against hope she would let him come back soon - now that is impossible.

I admired Babbie so much in her new bathing suit. She has the prettiest figure and when her front teeth are straightened, she is going to be the best looking thing in Erie. Arrowsmith and Merriman both report excellent progress on her teeth straightening job incidentally - one good break.
