Rog went on the long awaited yachting-fishing trip with Boyd Burt and his family and Willie, Bab and I went to Chautauqua to see Mother and have supper with her at Mayville. Although the Colonel had said he was leaving Louisville tomorrow, we weren't surprised to see him pull in this evening, and it was good to have him back - never really seems like summer until he comes. My sore throat is better today but the glands in the left side of my throat ache and I have decided to see Delaney tomorrow and make arrangements to have the tonsil job done. Until they are out, I'm not going to enjoy anything fully, so the sooner the better.

Woke up feeling rotten - my neck aching - so stayed in bed until 7:30 AM and went to see Delaney before going to the office. He pronounced the tonsils infected, said they should come out and suggested Friday morning at Hamot - said I was "too gaggy" for him to try to do it under a local. He said also I should not go to Schdy. tonight which didnt please Whitey when I told him. But as luck would have it, the meetings this week are now postponed one day so I may be able to go tomorrow. Whitey wanted to know if Delaney couldn't "needle" me so I'd last until I could go to Schdy. & Washington. My neck still aches - the "medication" seems to do no particular good. And I go in to see Delaney again tomorrow. It's hard to really enjoy anything with this hanging over me.
