eating- soup, bread and milk, ice cream. Perk called to inquire about me and so did Mrs. Carr which I thought nice of them. I never read so much Satevepost at one time-anything diverting was okay. I quite enjoyed the relaxation and the rest, and my throat didn't bother except when I swallowed , and even then, with aspergum, it wasn't too awful. Tonight we listened to the Democratic Convention until about 1:30 AM and then fell asleep- so we missed hearing FDR nominated for the 3rd term- but it was obvious from the start that was what was going to happen.

In all this tonsil business I estimate I lost a maximum of about 10 pounds which I am now beginning to regain. One thing I meant to put down yesterday was Delaney's remark at the hospital: "Along on the 4th or 5th day your throat will start to hurt much worse than it does now - dont worry when that happens It's quite normal. Youll understand after four or five days , why I said you would be away from the office a week." So evidently I have something to look forward to around the end of the week.

Today I felt good but stayed in bed all day as ordered. With a little aspergum occasionally my throat was quite tolerable and I enjoyed reading and relaxing except that after a while I began to get awfully tired of lying in bed - my legs began to get figgetty and I wished I could get into some other position for a while.
