we were low on Lot 1 for 144 mounts, Goss were low on Lots 2 & 3 for 96 and 108 respectively but Goss required far less machine tools - Cliff thought it would settle down into a negociation. At any rate it is nice to be low on the large quantity which should make us strong. The Bureau will summon us when they are ready to talk business.
Drove over to Vergennes this morning, top down and swanky, and bought a quarter's worth of night crawlers, then returned to Basin Harbor for Bab and Rog to fish of the rocks in front of our cottage, Commodore Taft assisting. Bab caught a "swiggle bass" almost before she got her hook in the water and in an hour they had caught seven of them - Bab six; Roy one. We took movies of the historic event and then strung them on a line and put them back into the water, intending to free them later. The children certainly got their fill of fishing in a very brief session.
Took a bunch of movies today, visited the grave yard where some of Roger's family are buried, saw "Twinkle" the week old calf, investigated the chef's luxurious trailer that he travels back and forth to Florida in, went swimming, shot the bull, etc. - a typical vacation day of doing nothing important and having a good restful time of it.
The children went to a marionette show this evening and to our great relief Rog was very much himself again all day and evening. Allen Penfield Beach the "host" of Basin Harbor, showed a lot of lovely kodachrome slides of the place this evening, which inspired me to get a good movie record of this lovely spot.
