had time to cool off since Shap's actions last got him excited. While I would in a way hate to see this chance pass by, it would have its compensations in meaning the avoiding of a very unpleasant situation temporarily at least. Of course, even though it may fall through now, another flare-up with Shap could easily bring it up again at any moment. On the other hand, it may all go through in a day or so. Jack Hume seems to have something to say about who runs that section and it may be he has raised some questions just as he has with Whitey concerning Jack Hause (who failed to appear here today to my knowledge). Jack Hause is scheduled for several months in the Industrial Dept. before he can definitely take over here. Perhaps that deficiency in my career might have something to do with a stymie. Well, even if it fails to materialize, my program should proceed on its previously appointed way - so as I say it would be certain compensations. I'm not worrying about it.

My day was hectic. Doc and Rudy away. The first thing that happened was Mr. Feehan, Master Mechanic of Mississippi Export Rwy. arriving to see Doc and his 44 ton Caterpillar locomotive. So I had to abandon my part in the tank session with Capt. Cummings and Mr. Evans, to take care of weatherbeaten, toupeed Mr. Feehan and it took most of the morning. The rest of the day was a race between tank drive conference and my own work with a miscellaneous smattering of Doc's thrown in for good measure. The tank boys took the 6:05PM puddlejumper for Washington so I could get home and have a normal evening anyhow.
