When we left he made a remark about our coming "helping" him - I never did figure that out.  Was he trying to be polite or did he mean our coming helps him with Tull and some of the higher-ups - I can't quite see it.  At any rate, he was most cordial and he has an art of appearing attentive to everyone - we had great difficulty in spending any money at all.  Liquor and beer were available to all in any quantity and free of cost.  We pitched horseshoes and played softball - drank beer and highballs in profusion - talked and watched various poker games.  We had dinner at the table with Seibel, a good friend of ours.  Si says our two locos at Cleveland averaged 41 1/2ยข per hour for fuel, lube and maintenance for August and seemed well pleased.  Bert Ladley let us know it appears they will buy two heavy units soon but E-M will force them to take theirs.  This was a tip we can follow up - maybe we can get a 50-50 break and get in an Alco.

After dinner they drew for a number of prizes and after I thought the drawing was all over, I suddenly heard my name called and found I had won a GE coffeemaker!  I knew Willie would be tickled with that as she has long wanted one.  Jerry and I broke away at 1AM with the party still going strong.  Bert said it might end at the Hollenden and I didn't care about getting involved in that and neither did Jerry, so we eased out.  Bert invited me to come stay with him but I declined as gracefully
