2.) Caterpillar hasn't given the Missouri Pacific a whiff of freight since they bought Hercules engines for their 44 tonners. The Mo. Pac. recently bought a tractor from Caterpillar to try to make amends but Frank says it was so special and out of production, it was no amends but just a pain in the neck for them at Peoria and the animosity is still on.
3.) Frank says their traffic manager at Peoria has a collection of 40,000 matchbox covers, gathering them from the Cat. organization the world over. It has now become more of an arduous, costly chore to take care of them, mount them, etc. than a pleasant hobby.
4.) Frank claims the GM small two cycle automotive diesel is a flop, has been withdrawn from production and they are feverishly designing a new, four cycle orthodox engine to replace it. But the funny thing is to read their great, glowing two page spreads in the Satevepost about this marvellous two cycle engine - world's ahead of everyone else - now a flop!

I was quite puzzled today to find that a Mr. Hess of Philco Battery was trying to see me. I found him to be a very pleasant young fellow who said he had seen Eddie Gunn in Columbus yesterday and Eddie had told him to be sure and look me up when he was in Erie. Reading between the lines, I saw a picture of Whitey telling Eddie all about coming events, while they sipped scotch highballs at White Sulphur and Eddie telling Hess that I am a "coming power" in the Transportation Dept. and to get acquainted with me.
