Ken Wolf and I had lunch at the Wesleyville saloon today and got talking about Zeke Tinkey. Zeke is certainly a character with his down country drawl and his odd way of talking and swinging around on his feet while he does talk. He's homely but the girls seem to like him. I think it's because he treats them with respect. That was obvious Wednesday night. While Al and Brownie were inclined to be coarse and suggestive in their talk, Zeke was never that way - never even told a dirty story while they were around. I think girls, even ones inclined to be loose and tough themselves, appreciate a man treating them with respect in that way. Once the other night, Zeke addressed Mary as "Miss Mary", which made me like him. Perhaps Zeke has the famed "Dogpatch Style of Wooing" now current in Lil' Abner. Zeke
