indoor girl who loved music and taught piano and had no sense of humor whatever. I never thought Dick was bad or treated her badly - I think he just got to a point where he couldn't stand her in preference to someone he had met who suited him perfectly although I should think the boy would have held them together.

Met Jay and Bill Hamilton with some trepidation in the Laurence cafeteria this morning. Bill said, "Hello, Craton," as though he thought he had to - never offered to shake hands. But later on he warmed up. I told Jay about how cool I thought Bill was at breakfast when I came in and he replied, "Oh, hell. He was that way because they had just brought him the wrong eggs and he was sore about it."

I got quite a razzing at home this morning. I had told Willie yesterday we were going right back to the plant after dinner last night so when Western Union called, she told them I was at Bldg. 60. Of course, they couldn't get me there and later called home to say I hadn't been at Bldg. 60 all evening! Mother remarked this morning, "So we guessed you were out on a jamborree with Johnnie Walker." How true it was too!

We spent most of the day in Bldg. 60 and finally got the loco all set, leaving it at 8 PM with the bearing run 2/3 successfully completed. Zeke finally had to put in a new overspeed governor which Ken has been after him to install for three weeks and that irked Bill Hamilton of course. I presented Zeke with the Zippo lighter and he seemed much pleased; I think I finally won him back again.
