Sunday, Oct. 27, 1940.
Saturday and Sunday breakfasts I participate in the making of - it has become a habit, my personally made omelette on these two mornings each week. This morning I produced a wow - I usually pick up my spare ham etc. available to give the omelette a little character and this morning I grabbed some spare hunks of mousetrap cheese which melted down into one of the best and gooiest omelette creations I ever produced.

After breakfast, Rog went to Sunday School with Nicky Greer (at whose throat he was ready to leap yesterday afternoon) as usual. Rog is the only church going member of the family now. We [[underlined]] must [[/underlined]] get going it is hard to just make the break but once we have I know we'll be glad. I went to work in the basement hung the furnace pipes to Mother's suite with additional thickness of asbestos paper. Also I plugged up some air leaks in the foundation with cement. This took me practically all day. I am trying to get Mother's bedroom and bathroom to heat better as they are really awfully cold in cold weather - too far from the furnace and really need a booster fan in the pipes.

After a whole day of work in the cellar, I was glad Willie had some guests coming in for supper. It started with her inviting Charlie Reed as Barbara still is in Huntingdon. Then we decided to ask Walter Scarborough too but he was out and we left word at the Ford Hotel. Then thinking we might want to play some Tripoley, Willie invited Marion and Dick Lamborn too.
