Had some consultation with Shap this morning on a new MO for GE733 motors and found him reasonably cooperative - all well so far. Jake was after me on some wildcat 36" gauge two axle locomotives which we finally agreed with Henry Guy to quote on. Jake also has shown definite signs of cooperation, taking care to introduce me to Donahue, the U.S. Engineers inspector here to okay the Pickatinny at last. Understand from White, to whom I have a shorter shipment on the target car today that Marsh will be here Friday. So that seems to be in hand.

Phil and Jay Walker blew in at 10AM and D.P. Orcutt also. Phil, Jay, John Downie and I spent the rest of the day on the New Haven and very agreeably. Phil played ball 100% and we came out very well. We had a delightful luncheon in the Wesleyville saloon - hamburg sandwich and glass of beer - and the merriment waxed heavy. John got off the prize remark when Jay, kidding him, inquired near what town John's hometown. Brainerd, Minn. is. John's reply: "Why, it isn't near any town. It's a big place and all the towns are near it." In the afternoon, we put a 44 ton around a 75 ft. curve with a box car, when we hadn't guaranteed anything shorter than 125 ft; we told Phil that would cost him $500 (the figure the loco. people had wanted to do better than [[strikethrough]] $ [[/strikethrough]] 125'). It was one of those easy, pleasant, kidding sessions during which we did a lot of work and all enjoyed the conference immensely. We razzed Phil about what a reaming he was giving us and he replied in kind. An old time, hilarious session at City Club and Den following by ping-pong in our basement ended a very pleasant reunion.
