A wild day at the office again - didn't get to read the morning mail until 3:30 PM and only then in short relays! Whitey seemed pleased with my work line-up and to my relief Shap was reasonably agreeable also - a load off my mind. I immediately turned over to Shap, the new Army 60 ton invitation which arrived today - also the Navy schedule for one 50 tonner for Washington Navy Yard. Spent two hours this morning taking young Drisko around to meet the bosses - he is to spend a month here and then go to the St. Louis Office on industrial work. To my surprise, found that Jack Hause, who went too (he's an old friend of Drisko), had never met Walt Harris, Mark Hanna nor Tintle - seems to me they haven't taken very good care of Jack down there. Doc and Rudy turned over the Ford proposition to me and I am planning to assign it to Eddie Edwards to further the work distribution. Over the weekend, we got an order for one 65 ton for Nakoosa Edwards Paper Co. in Wisconsin, and another super low height mining loco. for Jewel Ridge. Shap was careful to introduce me to the Nakoosa man and McGraw from Milwaukee Office, who were here today. Shap got the order Friday for the target car power plant and now talks of a future business of 100 of the outfits: he's all enthusiasm, some contrast to his attitude when I gave him the job last Tuesday. So all in all things seem to be shaping up about as well as I could hope for. I'm about to go to work again here at home tonight, the only way I can seem to keep my head above water - for a while at least
