Magpies & Aphelocoma are common all along. A few mounds and holes of Dipodomys spectabilis were seen and lots of signs of Perodipus, Perognathus & Thomomys. A few Ammospermophilus were seen & a Perognathus picked up in the road. Prairie dogs are common & Coyotes & Badgers also. Lepus arizonae was seen & a few Jack rabbits, of the texianus group. There was no noticable change in vegetation or zone from Fruitland to Farmington to Largo, except that Junipers and nut pines come in on the mesas and ridges east of Farmington and are close down to the valley at Blanco & Largo.

The day was cold and raw with many squalls of snow and a chilly wind from the west.
