Juniper had given place to the small, single seeded berry again. The large seeded form also ^ [[insertion]] is the one [[/insertion]] occurring from Farmington to Largo. We have not seen it before this summer. The big mesas are heavily timbered with Junipers and nut pines over the tops. The lower slopes and valley sides only sparingly.

Found Depodomys spectabilis mounds abundant from Largo all the way up the Blanco, also [[strikethrough]] dipodomys [[/strikethrough]] Perodipus signs, Neotoma houses, Thomomys hills, and Porcupine gnawings on Nut pines. Lepus texanus & arizonica are common. Coyotes are numerous and Hotchkiss shot a fine one near Largo. A few others were seen & many tracks. At Blanco Mrs. Emert complains that they catch most of her chickens & turkeys. Badgers are common & a few prairie dogs are scattered along the valley. Several Ammospermophilus were seen in spite of the cold.

A flock of about 50 or 100 English sparrows live in Mr. Emerts place at Blanco, and feed around the stacks & stables. He says a few came & he
