[[underlined]] to Pueblo Bonito. [[/underlined]]

[[underlined]] Oct. 23. [[/underlined]] A cold frosty night but clear and pleasant day.

Continued down the Kimbetoh Wash to Escavada & then over a ridge to another fork of the Escavada and over another ridge to the Chaca and down to Pueblo Bonito, at Mr. Weatherell's store. Came some 25 miles.

Passed many indian fields and hogans [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] in every wash but saw no Indians tho tracks were seen & goat herds are ranging in most of the valleys. There are several wells and pools of water in Escavada Wash.

There is lots of grass over most of the country but short and dry The mesa tops are mainly Artemisia tridentata and Guterrizia euthamae. There are scattered nut pine and Juniper on the steep slopes and rough ridges, but the mesa tops are open.

We came down a long side canyon into Chaca Canyon a couple of miles above the store and then [[strikethrough]] came [[/strikethrough]] down past 2 great old pueblo ruins and found the store
