[[underlined]] To Organ Mts. [[/underlined]]

[[underlined]] Nov. 9 [[/underlined]]. Prof. Wooten took his team and drove east 10 miles to the Modoc Mine in a canyon in the base of the Organ Mts. Here we left the team and climbed up the canyon about 3 or 4 miles but did not reach the highest peaks.

The aneroid was set at the Benchrock in front of the college at 3860 feet, and we reached the 5000 foot contour at the base of the mts. about 8 miles back The mine at north of canyon when we left the team is 5500. About 2 miles up the canyon we struck the lower edge of Transition zone at 6500 feet on NE slopes and we continued up this slope to 7050 feet. The highest peak on the range, measured by triangulation from the railroad by the Trig. class is 8900 feet.

Transcription Notes:
Aneroid is a type of dry barometer.
