"AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; That the Chairman of this Board be instructed to present these resolutions to the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution. On motion duly made, seconded and carried it was voted that the prospectus now in print should be forwarded with the above resolutions to the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution".

The Secretary stated that the matter had been discussed by the Executive Committee, who had approved the following tentative draft of resolutions to be submitted for the consideration of the Board:

WHEREAS; The Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution has considered the proposition of the trustees, officers and board of direction of the National Museum of Engineering and Industry, an organization cooperating with the various American engineering societies, to erect in Washington under the direction and administration of the Regents of the Smithsonian Institution a building for a museum of engineering and industry, funds therefor to be provided by the above mentioned engineering organization and deposited with the Smithsonian Institution; and

WHEREAS; The Board of Regents has further considered the resolutions of the above mentioned engineering organization requesting the reservation of a site for said building in the Smithsonian grounds;

BE IT RESOLVED; That the Regents of the Smithsonian Institution, being in sympathy with the proposal as outlined above, will upon the collection and deposit with the Smithsonian Institution of Three millions of dollars ($3,000,000) for the construction of the first wing of the building, either set aside a site therefor in that part of the Smithsonian grounds known as "The Smithsonian Reservation", or will recommend to Congress the granting of a suitable site in the Smithsonian Park for said building.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; that, in the opinion of the Regents, the question of demolishing the present Arts and Industries Building of the United States National Museum, should be deferred until sufficient funds have been deposited with the Smithsonian Institution for the erection of the entire structure for the proposed museum of engineering and industry.

A general discussion ensued in which the various phases of the project were considered, including a statement by Mr. Delano, who was thoroughly conversant with the matter, after which on motion the resolutions were adopted. [[initialed]] CDW [[/initialed]]

The Secretary recalled to the Board that at the Special Meeting
