After remarks, the Board adopted the following resolution:-

RESOLVED; That the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution hereby ratifies its action in adopting the following resolution by a mail vote:-

WHEREAS; The Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution have received the deed of gift dated February 10, 1927, by John A. Roebling, conveying to the Institution the collection of minerals made by his father, Colonel Washington A. Roebling, late of the City of Trenton, County of Mercer, and State of New Jersey, and establishing in connection with the said collection a fund of One hundred and Fffty thousand dollars ($150,000), the gift being subject as an entirety to acceptance by the Smithsonian Institution through its Board of Regents upon said conditions as set forth in said deed of gift; Therefore be it
RESOLVED; That the Board of Regents do hereby accept the collection and the endowment upon the several conditions set forth, and hereby empower Charles Greeley Abbot, Acting Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, to execute the said deed of gift on behalf of the said Board of Regents.

ZOO BIRD HOUSE:

The Acting Secretary submitted a resolution providing that the Acting Secretary or the Secretary, with the advice and consent of the Executive Committee, should represent the Board of Regents in all matters pertaining to the contracts and construction of the proposed Bird House at the National Zoological Park.

In the discussion that ensued, it was brought out that the lowest bid for this construction exceeded the appropriation by over $46,000, and after an explanation by Dr. Wetmore, it was decided to build to the extent of appropriation, $102,000, involving a reduction in the size of the building, and later to secure an additional appropriation from Congress for its completion.

The resolution was then amended to include this decision, and was adopted as follows:
