This program, when completed, will give the National Zoological Park seven satisfactory exhibition buildings for animals. A small number in comparison with many other zoos, but sufficient for us to maintain a good collection in Washington. The present buildings, except for the new bird house, and the monkey house, are structured now out of date and not suitable for their purpose.
        _____________
Total - $1,230,000.00

C. International Exchanges.

Land and Buildings - $60,000.00

The International Exchanges now occupies a large space in the basement of the Smithsonian's original building, for which the Government has never paid rental. This space is suitable and much needed for laboratories. The business of the Exchanges could be more conveniently done near the Union Station, since material comes either by rail or from the Government Printing Office for the most part, and goes out by rail.
