change of week-day names. That, I feel convinced, is of little real advantage, and if enforced will lead to a revolt of the public mind very dangerous to learning.

Very truly yours,
(Signed) C. G. Abbot
Secretary.

Mr. George Eastmen, Chairman,
2400 M Street, N. W.,
Washington D. C.

The Regents discussed the proposition very fully in its various phases, after which Mr. Morrow offered the following resolution, which we adopted:

RESOLVED; That the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution do not consider it expedient, without a fuller investigation that it is at this time able to make, to express and an opinion in the matter of the proposed modification of the calendar suggested by Mr. George Eastman.

ADJOURNMENT.

There being no further business to come from the meeting on motion the Board adjourned, and viewed the exhibit showing various phases of the Institution's work, that has been set up in the Secretary's office.
