was interested in several matters of this character, and that he was taking steps to secure the refund of this amount to the Institution.
The Secretary was merely mentioning this and asked no action of the Board at this time.

[[underline]]Proposed Extension of National Museum Building[[/underline]]

The Secretary said that the Senate had passed a bill authorizing the securing of plans for the construction of wings on either side of the Museum building at a cost of $6,500,000. The bill as passed was an enabling bill only, but had not been brought before the House.
A general discussion took place in which it was brought out that the large building program of the Government had caused a postponement of the Museum project; that it was possible it might be carried through at this session, if it met the approval of the administration; that this might be had if the matter were presented to the President by the Chancellor.
On motion the Secretary was requested to prepare a resolution showing the sense of the Board as to the urgency of the matter, and requesting that the Chancellor present the same to the President.
The following resolution and accompanying papers were prepared by the Secretary:

RESOLVED; That this Board is deeply sensible of the urgency of the proposed extensions of the Natural History Building of the United States National Museum, authorized by Senate bill 3970 (71st Congress, 2nd Session), which passed the Senate on May 8, 1930, and which is now pending in the House of Representatives.
RESOLVED, further; That the Chancellor be requested to bring this matter to the attention of the President.
