that variation in the sun's radiation occurs in complicated pulses and that these pulses are attended by variations of pressure in the earth's atmosphere. When these cycles in the sun's radiation and in the earth's weather become better known through prolonged study, it will be possible to project them into the future and base long-range weather forecasting upon their relationship.

The National Museum published the usual large number of monographs and smaller technical papers based upon the collections in the Museum. Of particular interest among these was a bulletin on the "Composition and Structure of Meteorites" by the late George P. Merrill, a leading authority on meteorites.  Among the bulletins published by the Bureau of American Ethnology may be mentioned one on "Myths and Tales of the Southeastern Indians" by John R. Swanton, of the Bureau's staff, and two on Indian music by Miss Frances Densmore, a collaborator of the Bureau.

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.

The Chairman,Mr. Delano, submitted the printed report showing the financial affairs of the Institution for the fiscal year ending June 30,1930, explaining that the Committee had instituted certain changes in the matter of type and in the arrangement of the matter for the sake of greater clearness.  On motion, the report was received and ordered filed.
