The other part thereof of the income of this trust shall be administered by the Smithsonian Institution, and applied annually for grants for original research, anywhere in the world, in any field, unrestrictedly, only so it contributes to the increase and diffusion of useful knowledge among men. Income unexpended by reason of the non-award of research grants, or for any other reason, shall be added to the principal of the foundation. The prize shall be known as the "Chester D.Pugsley Prize", and the grants for research shall be known as "Chester D. Pugsley Research Grants".

[[underlined]] Second; [[/underlined]] If this Codicil is revoked by me, or fails through non-acceptance by the Smithsonian Institution or for any other cause, then the securities given hereunder shall also go under the residuary clause of my Last Will and Testament, which is dated 28 January 1920, which by this Codicil to my last Will and Testament has been further limited and restricted as to the amount which the President and Fellows of Harvard College, a Corporation of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, would have received thereunder, in trust nevertheless, for scholarship in the Harvard Law School. 

[[underlined]] Third; [[/underlined]] In all other respects I hereby ratify and confirm my said Last Will and Testament in each and every particular. 

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of February, in the year one thousand nine hundred and thirty one.

The above instrument, consisting of two pages, was at the date thereof, subscribed by Chester D.Pugsley, the above named testator, in the presence of us and each of us; at the time of making such subscription he acknowledged that he made the same, and declared the same instrument so subscribed by him to be a Codicil to his Last Will and Testament; whereupon we then and there, at his request, and in his presence and in the presence of each other, subscribed our names as witnesses thereto at the end of the Codicil.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of the Codicil of Mr. Chester D.Pugsley, this day executed and deposited with the Westchester County National Bank as Executor.

After full discussion on motion the following resolution was adopted:-

RESOLVED; That the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution request the Secretary to express to Mr. Chester D.Pugsley their appreciation of his laudable intention to encourage research, and[[strikethrough]]m[[/strikethrough]]also of his confidence in the fiduciary capacity of the Smithsonian Institution;

RESOLVED,further; That the Secretary be also requested to inform Mr. Pugsley that unless unforeseen impediments occur, the Smithsonian Institution will be prepa^[[r]]ed to administer the trust established by the above-quoted codicil, should it form an effective part of his last will and testament.

At the Annual Meeting, December 11, 1930, the Secretary stated that under the will of Mrs.Mary Lloyd Pendleton Abney,of New York, dated May 16, 1928,
