September 11th, 1944.

Dear Léger:

I thank you for your letter of September 9th., and am certainly glad to read that altogether you are pleased with my sale.

Now as regards the reproduction in the book, I personally would much prefer that you reproduce it under the name of Jacques Seligmann & Co., Inc., New York. If for some reason or other you object to this, then have it "Private Collection".

I am sorry to hear of your troubles as regards finding a studio, but I am not surprised as from all reports there seems to be a tremendous shortage of space of any sort in New York. Of course, should I hear of anything I will let you know posthaste.

There is no hurry from what I have just heard, as regards the other "Plongeurs". I shall wait therefore until you return at the end of the month.

Yes, this is good news, and to think of Paris being free again just gives one a thrill all over.

Cordially,

Mr. Fernand Léger
