April 15th, 1944 Dear Mr. Leger: As agreed with you, we wish to confirm that we have purchased at the Richard Davis Sale held at the Parke-Bernet Galleries on April 13th, an abstract composition by yourself described as "Nature Morte", dated '28, 36 x 25-1/2 inches, No. 87 of the catalogue, for the sum of $700.00 (seven hundred dollars). This purchase has been made for your account and you have contributed to it the sum of $350.00 which we already received and hereby acknowledge, and we have advanced to you the remaining sum of $350.00. Enclosed please find our check on The Fifth Avenue Bank of New York for $50.00 as your check referred to above was made out for $400.00. For the good order of our records, kindly confirm the above.
