We left about 6 p.m. took sunset.

We landed Capt on pier but surf
was too high, or looked it for me
to get ashore nearer reef, so
had to go back while looking
around for conveyance, truck driver
refused, the bus drove up
with our sailors from LaLibertad
dropped me down ^[[about]] where I wanted
to go fare about 3/c. gave conductor
5 c Amer. (one now gets 15 sucres
for a dollar).
Kids helped me, 3 Amer. kids
several Ecuadorian ones boys and
girls, and couple of men but we could
not budge one large rock. That I 
wanted to look under. Had date
meet Capt. at. 3 15 & he bought
me beer. Escobar was at Tivoli
with him Ralph Ernest and Dr. Bland
Sailors were at other end of porch
in front of bar. 
Bought grape juice bottles at 1 sucre
each 15 for a dollar
