Malpelo is very precipitous sided, well-nigh inaccessible all around; saw our old (Hancock) landing; but we could not land no [[insert]]official[[/insert]] permission; & besides no point to landing; except I might have gotten few specimens; calm day we could have landed had we had mind too. No apparent vegetation other than lichenous growths here & there; lot of apparently nesting gulls; mostly small of galapagos ^[[species]] [[strikethrough]]like[[/strikethrough]]; ^[[(already mentioned]] are streaks of moisture by cave near S.E. had lot of bright green algae [[strikethrough]]growths[[/strikethrough]]; but perhaps only 20-30 foot streaks irregularly a few feet or inches wide in places. In a notch in larger islet to South, looked at from west a single slender stalk of a plant maybe 2 1/2 feet high; like stalk of one of our dead century plant ^[[stalks]] minus seed pods though there was something thicker at top end of stalks (? seed pods of another kind [[image on top of text-- two hills with dip inbetween; stalk in dip with dot at tip of stalk]]
