THE CONVENTION TEACHER

"Dedicated to Teacher and Pupil"
[[Column 1]]
A TEACHER'S RESOLUTIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Inasmuch as I desire to become a more efficient teacher through my services to my church and school than I have been during the past year, be it therefore resolved that, by the help of God, I shall during the coming year

ATTEND all conferences for workers and teachers called by the general superintendent, unless prevented by a reason deemed excusable by the superintendent before the time of meeting.

BE and example to others in punctuality and regular attendance.

COOPERATE with my superintendents in trying to have a Standard A School.

DEVOTE a regular period each day to reading my Bible and communing with the great Master Teacher.

ENDEAVOR to learn more of the definite life-problems of my pupils through more frequent personal contacts with them.

FORGET all past misunderstandings with church school officers that arose during the past year through problems of administration, and

GUARD against further misunderstandings.

HELP my pupils to grow into Christ-like characters by my own example.

INQUIRE concerning absent pupils until a cause of absence is learned.

JOIN a teacher's reading club, or start one, where gleanings from books and periodicals may be shared profitably.

KEEP a personal record of the observed needs and interests of each pupil.

LEARN more concerning the technique of teaching so that my teaching will be more effective.

MAKE my classroom more attractive through appropriate pictures, flowers, etc.

NEVER converse or debate with other teachers during the worship period, or any other time, that may cause disturbance to the children.

ORDER my supplies early.

PREPARE a written lesson plan for each class session.

QUIT making excuses when asked to serve on committees or to perform other duties requested by the superintendent.

REPORT to the superintendent, or the secretary, promptly and regularly such records as they may desire.

STUDY and receive credit for at least one study course.

TRY to guide all classroom procedure so that it will contribute to Christian growth of pupils.

UTILIZE every opportunity to learn further concerning my responsibility in the great task of Christian education.

VISIT in the homes of all my pupils at least once each quarter.

WORSHIP always with my pupils instead of watching them respond during worship services.

XPECT and watch for growth in Christian living as revealed in the conduct of my pupils, for this only will be the test of my teaching.

YEARN for divine guidance in my own living, so that I may not lead young lives into wrong paths.

ZEAL for my task shall not wane during the coming year in spite of discouragements.

--GRACE MARTIN.

WHERE YOU LEAD SOMEBODY Is Following You

Somebody is catching a glimpse of you as you thread your way through life and unconsciously going your way, perhaps merely because he knows no better direction to take.

The fatal power of leading others is inevitable, and nobody is so insignificant and commonplace that he does not determine by his example the life of someone else. People do things because others do, more than for any other reason.

A little of this pulling power rests in every one of us. No matter how small and inconsiderable a person you seem to yourself to be, someone is being led by you.

It's up to YOU what SOMEBODY will be!

--The Baptist Student.

BELIEFS THAT MATTER

John 20:30-31; Acts 16:11-15; I Tim. 4:16; I John 5:1-5

30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
11 Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;
12 And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.
13 And on the Sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
15 And when she was baptized, and her

household, she besought us saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the son of God?

11 Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis; 12 and from thence to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the first of the district, a Roman colony; and we were in this city tarrying certain days. 13 And on the sabbath day we went forth without the gate by a river side, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down, and spake unto the women that were come together. 14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened to give heed until the things which were spoken by Paul. 15 And when she
