Colonel

I have the honor to forward papers which will explain what action I have taken in the case between Peter Price and others v.s. R. M. Abbott of Rockingham County.

I have had both parties before me in Wentworth, on the 25th of February 68, and examined the case thoroughly, but could not come to a final settlement on account of the Tobacco which was not yet disposed of, but to relieve the freedman from suffering I ordered Abbott to comply with the written enclosed letter No "6" to which I received his answer.

This Abbott is very a insolent man, and I have now every reason to believe

Transcription Notes:
changed "Abbot" to "Abbott" (No "6" looks more like a "C," even though "C" is a letter)
