R. J. Bryson maketh oath in due form of law before me J. M. Bryson an acting Justice of the peace that on the night of the 28th of April 1868 after night A. K Gibson & R M Wilson came to his house and that he believes (Gibson) asked him to go and assist to take a negro man named Henry Matthews from jail and drive him from town; that they asked him where was John Allison and asked for a case knife which they wished to use in taking off the lock of the door of the room in which the negro was confined that since the affair John Allison had said that he (Allison) hit the negro with a stone as he was running [[strikethrough]] before a crowd, [[/strikethrough]] away out of town that Allison also stated that he drove him (the negro) to the bridge over Tuckaseige river
