Sir:
I  have the honor to report that on July 10" one John Allison went to the home of Virgil Bryson. freedman. living near Webster. Jackson Co. and threatened his life if he made any resistance to his proceedings. He then went over the house, took Brysons gun and carried it away. The next day William Bumgarner, late Acting Sherriff of Jackson Co. went to Bryson's house, and took away his horse, claiming to be acting by authority of a warrant purporting to have been issued by one Brinkley. Bumgarner. Also assaulted Bryson with a knife, and threw a rock at him, and threatened to kill him, and to take away his property, and drive him from the place.
