Dear Sir:

Before leaving this city I feel it to be an imperative duty to again ask your attention to the sad statements of destitution and suffering coming up from various localities of Eastern North Carolina.

The Corn you were so mindful to ship a short time since to Hyde County in that state has no doubt releived the pangs of hunger to a great extent, but from the startling fact that a vessel has just been forcibly seized belonging to private parties in that locality for the purpose of obtaining possession of a lot of corn on board to appease the cravings of hunger among the people, it can be readily seen that a
