Sir:

I have the honor herewith to state that A. A. Mashburn. of Nantahala, Macon Co. reports at this Office that Jesse. R. Delosier, R. A. Poindexter. John Collins. James Collins. Wilburn Collins, and John Ragle, of the same place, have made repeated threats against him and others of the Republican party, who propose to hold a public meeting at Stecoah. Cherokee Co. and who are making arranjements to carry a United States flag thro the locality where these disorderly persons live.  It is asserted that the above named parties threaten to shoot any person who carries the flag, and declare that they will

Nantahala Township is located in North Carolina in the part of Macon County which is west of Wayah Gap. "Nantahala" is a Cherokee word which means "Land of the Noonday Sun." Stecoah was a township, with a church and meeting house, in Cherokee Co. until the 1870's when it became part of Graham Co.
