deny the being of Allmighty God, or who have been convicted of infamous Crimes etc, shall not be eligible [[underlined]] to hold Office [[/underlined]], and furthermore, that the right of Sufferage cannot be taken from any voter, even by Sentence of any Court, because Art. XI Sec. 1. of the State Constitution declares that the following punishments [[underlined]] only [[/underlined]] shall be known to the Laws of this State, viz: Death, Imprisonment with or without hard labor, fines, removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office etc. No mention is made of a punishment disfranchising anybody, and Art. XIV, Sec. 1. further declares that all Indictments which shall have been found, etc, for any crime or offence committed before the Constitution takes effect, may be proceeded upon in the proper Courts, but [[underlined]] no punishment shall be inflicted, which is forbidden by this Constitution.
