FIRST DAY--Morning Session

September 9, 1925

The Twenty-Ninth Annual Session of the Women's Mite Missionary Society of the Baltimore Conference Branch, opened its session on the above date at Quinn A. M. E. Church, Frederick, Rev. E. T. Addison, Pastor; Rev. J. S. Collins, Presiding Elder; Rt. Rev. J. A. Johnson, D. D., Presiding Bishop; Mrs. F. N. Briscoe, President, 9:45 A. M. Opened by singing, "There Is A Fountain." Prayer by Rev. W. I. Snowden. Second hymn, "O Thou In Whose Presence." Scripture by Dr. C. H. Stepteau, a portion of 22nd chapter of St. Luke. Hymn: "Bear The Cross," by the choir.

Sermon by Rev. John Bond, of Hagerstown, Md. Text: "Come." Genesis 6th chapter and 18th verse, and Revelations 22nd chapter and 17th verse.

It was a spendid sermon full of thought and inspiration. It was enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of hearing it.

Holy Communion was conducted by Presiding Elder Collins, Revs. Stepteau, Snowden and E. T. Addison, our host. Hymns: "Alone," and "He Leadth Me" were feelingly sung by the choir. Prayer by Dr. Stepteau. "Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus" was sung. The Presiding Elder addressed the convention, after which he introduced the President, Mrs. Fannie N. Briscoe.

After some remarks by the President, in which she spoke of the splendid sermon and that surely the "Lord was in this place." She also deferred appointing the committees until the afternoon session.

The Prayer and Praise Committee made its report through its chairman, Mrs. Dora Murray. Report adopted. Mrs. Katie Handy, Chairman of Mother's Meetings, being absent on account of the death of her mother, there was no report.

The Chairman of the Mary A. Campbell Circle being absent, Mrs. M. C. Beckett made a verbal report, which was very helpful. Report adopted.

The report of the Missionary Alliance was made by Mrs. Arnetta Moore. Report adopted.

Mrs. Martha Thomas, the wife of Rev. E. N. Thomas of Bladensburg, was absent on account of the death of her sister.

A motion was made by Mrs. Lucas, seconded by Mrs. Lillian Johnson that the convention send a message of condolence to both Mrs. Handy and Mrs. Thomas. Carried.

The following persons were introduced: Mrs. M. S. C. Beckett, Corresponding Secretary; Mrs. Emily Kinch, Secretary-Treasurer of Y. P. D.; Mrs. Beckett, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Laura Bond, Hagerstown; Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Wells of Illinois; Revs. E. N. Thomas, P. H. Green, C. A. Williams, J. W. Bowie, Jno. Bond, D. G. Hill, Frederick Douglas, W. I. Snowden, J. M. Boston, J. S. Collins, P. E. of Hagerstown District: E. T. Addison, C. H. Stepteau, Dr. Brooks, Messrs. Richard and William Hill, Misses Zerita Stepteau, Lillie Lomax and Louise Baker.

Mrs. Wells, who is Chairman of the Mission Study in the Baptist Church addressed the convention. Mrs. Lillian Johnson, wife of the Secretary of the Church Extension Society, responded to Mrs. Wells. Mizpah benediction. Adjournment.
