We're still working on the D deal. It would go through like greased atmospheric electrical disturbances if the old sod didn't want to tie us up hand and foot for the next ten months. If he could only get us where we couldn't ship a damned thing here for the rest of the year, I'd be minus a stock on hand half an hour later. But unfortunately we've discovered that we can sell a few outside Bunny if we put our minds to it, and so we're apt to insist on his meeting us as far as we meet him. It is very provoking to Bunny.

Saturday is usually my easy day, Bunny being closed. But I hiked down to Maala to look after those blamed coolies, and it was well that I did, for they had the things all over the place. I got 'em piled up eight high, and then some more started from the wharf, and I beat it.

Went down to Bond's in the afternoon, and we made a round of calls. That onerous jooty being over, Mrs. B and I licked the Consular combination in a rubber at Bridge, and then we adjourned for dinner. I'm raising hell this week, - three distinct dinners. This society life is killin' me.
