I went down to call for Bond this afternoon and we hiked back to camp and made a few calls.  We favored the two messes and a couple of regimental nabobs with our benign presence, and then adjourned to the veranda. Afterwards I went back with Bond to dinner at his ranch.  Bond had his citizens register book arrive by the last P. & O. and I had the honor or burning my John Hancock on the foist page.  Nothing like having your goods where they strike the eye.  We filled out the blank "unmarried", and right underneath there were six more under the heading of "has the

New York confirmed my closing out the D's this morning, so I add 105 Bales more to my list. I think I've done fairly well so far this year, - better than most of these other cotton wallahs around here, anyway.  We're still on deck, in spite of a few of the rival elite laying us out in state.
