Cremaschi Sahib was over today and between the four of 'em they used ^[[up]] a round two dozen cocktails. Some day I shall sit down and figure out how many of those coffin varnishes that memorable five year ago jag has saved me. I tell you that awful headache has paid me good profits. I cursed it at the time!

We were down to Somerville Murray's birthday celebration tonight. I walked past JAJ's door at 3:30 "after midnight" with my shoes in my hand.

"The witching hour of midnight, when graveyards yawn," etc. brought the waterwagon, and the Sahib and I drove down and I put him safely on board. He mentioned a midnight dinner yesterday, which Cremaschi, Esq agreed to, but then, C., Esq. was not really responsible for his memory just then, so the bout was called on account of darkness. Mr. Jones will be back on the 20th with my walking papers.
