By gum, you know I've been busy these days? Monday morning I was downstairs workin' at quarter of seven, which beats all my records a city block. When Smith was getting off his ivory, two weeks ago, to catch the sale, he was downstairs weighing it at five, but he's welcome to the honor. Not for mine, I assert. Not content with invoices and mail today, ye Editor went over to the Cowajer Besse's bungalow and annexed eight dibs. It's never too late to make a penny, but really, Schmidtt, five is too doggone early.

The weather has changed, and it is delightful here now. What a glorious five months from now on! I shall hate to leave this dirty old burg in the midst of winter, to go into the heat at Mombasa, but then, you know the saying about the wishes and the horses and the beggars and the gingerbread! We cant have everything our own way.
