Called on Bunny this morning, and let those Perkins goods go at a hundred dibs. That's more than I ever expected he would pay for them, and they show a good profit over the invoice, as well. Now I've nothing more to sell, and I'll have to keep myself busy closing up until I board the water wagon for Mombasa. Yasein's heart will break when he hears the news,- not from any intense affection for yours truly, but his fondness for that universal delicacy known out here as "Baksheesh." Well, he'll have to get his "buz" money from Bunny alone then.

I sent my tennis-bat up to the Chokey today to be re-strung. You should have seen it when it came back. Had a shape just like a harp! All it needed was a little tuning and I could have played it meself. I put in a bid for my six dibs but I hardly think they'll come back to the fold. These here officials' palms are too sticky.
