We went over to Belle's for dinner this evening. She had got all through housecleaning, and, as is usual with the wimmen-folks, looked bright and hearty after the battle, while Slipp himself was down and out. Had a little bridge afterwards, and then beat it. The Mrs. is very nice. She's done a lot for me in her little way, to help pass the time here. She says she'll bring Edie out for me next year. What do you think?

Mac invited three of us over there tonight. Had a very quiet but enjoyable evening myself, but Parker must have thought he was raising hell, for he stayed up until midnight. He's a good old Scotchman, though, even if he doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, or doesn't eat grass, and therefore, according to Mac's favorite story, is [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] "company for ^[[neither]] man nor beast." What impressed Parker was the "concentration" with which I played Bridge. Hell, I had a "hundred aces" last night at Slipps and never saw them until after I'd gone hearts!
