Fine day out. We passed Quardafui this evening about ten, going very close to the shore. The moon was shining brightly, and altogether the scene was delightful. The sunset on the water is almost as beautiful as the moonlight, - it is truly fascinating to watch that great orange disc touch the horizon and then slowly sink beneath it. It is beautiful, a moment after the last of it disappears, to see the thin red light shoot along the edge of the water. By gum, I could watch it every day of me life. It's a sight to be remembered.

Saw a little land this morning, but that was all. These are very restful days, and all I did was to read and doze, and collect four-and-six from the pool. Let's see, the run was 308 miles today. This "Feldmarschall" isn't such a bad boat. She's about 6300 tons, and fitted up mighty nice for this part of the world. The Ober Kellner saw a tip in my eye, and he gave me an outside room all to myself, so I'm pretty comfortable. Still, I'm not much of a sailor, and I shan't be sorry when I get Africky under me walkovers. Dry land for this chicken.
