Neither do I think you can accuse me of shirking today. Made an ivory shipment, sold 500 Bs. to Alidine, and worked all the afternoon looking at his ivory. Threw out about a dozen of the biggest ones,- had to. I'll bet about half of them are dumped in here again with the next lot. These Indians are spry fellows in the gold brick line.

Bwana Vining, from the tone of his letters, seems to think we're neglecting him in Zanzibar. "The conduct of your office is not satisfactory. We require by every mail" et cetera, et cetera. Bro. Vining is requested to fry ice.

Just one more day of rushing around to beat hell. Was in the godown all morning and in the office all the afternoon. New York mail today, and though I condensed it all I could, I typewrot three long pages to 82 Beaver. Al Khawajer Jones doesn't like these prolix epistles.

Stewart is getting along pretty well now. He's been normal two or three "consecutive" days. Vining doesn't seem to be pleased that Stewart can't go back to Zanzibar to work for him. Wouldn't it be a joke if Arnold had to come back from Aden?
