Lang spread the covers tonight. There were the same bunch present as at Parenti's, L'amour bring the conspikerous one. He had us all going again. Lord, how tight that fellow can get!

Called on Mr. Gottschalk in the morning, — he gave me quite a discourse on my possible Consular duties, and went to much trouble trying to set me right on as many things as he could think of. I shall be sorry when he goes tomorrow, for I certainly have enjoyed his American company. I'm slightly fed up on the British article.

Amoretti's final dinner, this time held in Al Bait [[strikeout]] Josephs, was largely and noisily attended. L'amour got on another of his inimitable jags, and played the hero again to our vast amusement. We toted him on board the "Adolph Woermann", and departed a little after eleven. Bum voyage! Vive l'amour!

Irving also came up from Zanzibar, and the Consul gentleman left for the same port.

Altogether it was a great day for the DAAL.
