Still trying to buy ivory from our pal Abdul Rasul, but he can be almost as obstinate as old Bunny at times. But I'll give him credit for be able to close a deal usually without that confounded haggling that old Bunny always has to go through. Bunny had it a little bit in for me that summer in Aden, though, and I think ran up my cable bills with malice aforethought, — I guess I dumped too many cotton goods into Aden for his simple tastes. Anyway, old Bunny was always willing to talk to run up the telegrams a/c. It was all in his game.

High jinks in the M.M. these days. The Melbourne tried to come in inside the bouys this morning, and ran ashore, — the Oxus came in a little later, and tried to pull the other off, but only succeeded in running aground herself.

Jo and I put up several Zanzibarites, [[strikeout]] —friends of Jo's, when he was there, as it was anything but pleasant staying on board the old tub. We had a good time at dinner over at Jo's bungalow, as we always do. Our friend Whitlark had an awful time trying to restrain his voice, — not to disturb the lady up in Jo's room.

Oh, her husband was there. I meant to mention it before.
