Well, I see Teddy has arrived at Naples, all right, and is now on the "Admiral", Mombasa bound. He will get all the wild beasts he's looking for, out in these parts, all right. There were three lions ^[[seen]] within as many miles of Mombasa last week.

Excuse me from any lion hunts. Let me keep right by my own safe little fireside, and I'll gladly leave all the lions in the world to these pugnacious, restless spirits who aren't happy unless they're [[strikeout]] looking for trouble with Congress, Standard Oil, senators from South Carolina or other wild beasts.

Collar button hunts under the bureau are quite exciting enough for this chicken.

What do you think? Here I worked and jollied Abdul Rasul into taking up that ivory & cotton goods offer, — he only wanted later shipment, and cabled his acceptance home if the shipment was changed, and NY. replies declining the offer, and reducing ivory limits! Of course they may have damned good reasons for doing it, but it made me so doggone mad I could hardly see. It took me a great many visits to Abduls, and a lot of extremely hot air and a hell of a lot of patience, and just as I'd gotten him into the right mood they spoil the whole palaver over night.

It's hard on the poor overworked agent.
