We really did make a sale today. It was only 50 bales, but still it serves to keep our hand in, and to forge another chain in the Boustead link. If I could only sell Besson it would be a stroke!

We went over to the Deutsche Consulat for dinner tonight. Had some "wild Schwein". It was all right, too. I only hope he didn't have an Arab cook, but of course I couldn't very well as,- I had to eat it and take my chance.

Shipped only 19 tusks this time. Business is slow in ivory these days. Of course these 19 totalled pretty near four thousand plunks, but we hardly consider that bothering about these days.

However there's quite a [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] bunch of teeth on the way down to the railway, and we'll probably have a decent shipment next boat home. Hope so.

By gum, sir, we're two years out of New York today. I wouldn't believe it if the calendar hasn't got it down it black and white, but it is really so. Only one to go!
