Ern wrote me,- I got his letter today - telling me all about Ethel Barrymore's kid. He goes on to say how it improves some of them, and cites Schumann-Heink, whom, he explains, "gets a new note with every kid". Some girls that I know of, if that is true, only need a little married life to make 'em primadonnas. And then there's that famous Mrs. What'sername, out in Ohio or Indianny somewhere. She had 56 damned kids! She must yodle in her sleep.

Even too lazy to go over to the Gymkhana to hear the band. Old Bardey gave us a pseudo-dinner afterwards, which outside of the caviar and his red wine and a couple of stories, was not entirely wonderful. But then. 

The news came out that Adolphe's favorite is expecting an interesting event. We all congratulated him as an incipient papa, but he modestly said it was the work of a syndicate. However, he promised to set 'em up for his share.
