My old friend Kersondass actually bought something this morning! He doesn't know it, but I really stuck him an extra rupee a bale for making me wait so long.

Weighing up goatskins this morning. If you think it's any fun to weigh 1500 skins, one by each, you are mistaken, kind sir. And all for 2 1/2%! If they don't stick Corey another 7 1/2% on the other side, they're lobsters, that's all. The skin game ought to live up to it's name.

Nothing much diddin' this afternoon, so I went out to Bububu. It is one of the emoluments of the job that I'm a deadhead on the Zanzibar Railroad, by the way. Vining is a bloomin' stockholder. When they formed the road in New York for the purpose of getting Benine by the topknot, they were short of the legal number of stockholders, so they passed out a couple each to the office force. Wish I'd been around when old Jno. D. fixed up his oil Co. I do, if the same dasturi was on in his works! Oh well, we can't all be Chancellors up at Syracuse, I s'pose.
